DESIGN STATEMENT

The idea of this ten-second leader comes from dart game, which is very popular in almost every British pub and American bar. So the environment is set in a bar, where people is having fun with friends. So there is a short coversation at the beginnig, then as darts hit dartboard, the numbers ( from 10 to 3) are shown from differnt angles. Sound effect plays a crucial role, since only photos are used in this project. Even though they are still pictures, the positions are placed differently to avoid the feeling of stillness and getting bored. Pictures change every second, and the seconds are also queued by the throwing sound of each dart, so the viewers can use their imagination to figure out what is going on. The final shots are papers nailed up the board by darts, with the title of the project and other information.

My intention was to create an interesting, and amusing countdown with a sport which is familiare to a lot of people.

CREATIVE BRIEF
IDEA 1

Title: Hand Signals of Trade

Overview: The idea comes from future exchange, where huge amount of money passes among the fingers of traders and sellers every second. And they use a special language – hand signals to communicate in this system. I set the background in a hectic, noisy, seemingly chaotic workplace, with some close-up shots of a person’s hand signals changing from 10 to 3, then suddently the scene moves to the washroom, with a sound of toilet flushing. Final shot will be a big price board, and following with the text ” The last washroom break I had cost me $20,000″.

Goals and Objectives: My goal is to create a a hectic, noisy environment by using multi-layered surface. And the sound effect will play an important role by intensifying the dramatic result.

Audience: Most people don’t understand the hand signals in future exchange, therefore my target audiences will be those who are familiar with this trade.

Key Message: To create a countdown in a hectic, noisy, seemingly chaotic workplace, and to show the greed of people with a gambler’s heart in the capital world.

Content Planning: The content will be videotaped, and photographed. I will videotape the hand signals, and shoot some pictures of future exchange, people’s eyes, price board, newspaper, etc.

Title: 10 Darts Finish

Overview: The idea comes from dart game, which is very popular in almost every British pub and American bar. Some close-up shots from different angle to show the numbers from 10 to 3.

Goals and Objectives: The goal of this project is to create an interesting countdown by using a familiar game.

Audience: Even not every one know the rules of the game, they still can play it. So the target audience is those who play the game.

Key Message: To create a countdown in a noisy, seemingly chaotic bar, and people is having fun with it.

Content Planning: The content will be photographed.
